Over the last 7 years Solid International invested in 15 projects spread over 12 countries worldwide. This period has been an important learning process for Solid. This acquired knowledge and experience has led to a new approach in the set-up and execution of projects. Since mid-2004 Solid has chosen to cut down on the quantity of projects. By concentrating its means on one specific region, Solid aims to achieve a higher level of impact with the same input while striving for a good balance between costs and efficiency. Nevertheless, Solid will continue to support and follow-up the projects on foot until the anticipated objectives have been accomplished.

Following extensive research and by comparing a number of criteria involving feasibility, political stability, effectiveness and the possibility to control and observe the project, Solid is focusing on the region of Ayacucho, one of the poorest and most traditional regions in Peru.
